Board Risk Reporting Pack

Most board risk reports are written to inform. This one is written to decide: every content slide ends in a DECISION strip, the asks name their size and date, and the numbers trace back to a data sheet a director can audit.

Why this pack

If a slide has no decision, it's an appendix.

That's the rule the whole deck is built on. The executive summary leads with what changed and what's being asked. The heat-map slide requires every movement arrow to trace to evidence. The appetite slide turns breaches into decisions, not footnotes. And the recap slide — the one the minutes get written from — names each ask's size, date, and the cost of deferring it. Boards decide when reports are built to be decided on.

What's inside

The deck, the data, and the discipline.

Executive Summary

What changed since last quarter and the decisions requested today — the only slide some directors will read, so it carries the whole report.

Landscape & Heat Map

Top risks with trend and on-plan status, plus a movement slide where every arrow must name its evidence.

Appetite & KRIs

Domains over their ceilings and indicators in RED — with the response underway and the decision needed, if any.

Deep Dive Format

One risk, fully argued: the story in plain language, the evidence in numbers, the trajectory to target, and the ask — duplicate per risk.

Data Sheet

Paste your register extract; the top-10 table, trend counts, and appetite statuses compute by formula, sized to the deck's tables.

Methodology Appendix

Scales, bands, and how residual is calculated — so any director can trace any number on any slide to its inputs.

FAQ

Before you buy

What format is it?

A PowerPoint template (.pptx) and an Excel data sheet (.xlsx). Both fully editable; the deck also opens in Google Slides and Keynote with minor formatting shifts.

Does it require the PivotRisk registers?

No — the data sheet accepts any register extract with scores. It's simply fastest with the PivotRisk Risk Register or Integrated Register, which produce the exact columns and the heat map the deck is designed around.

Can I use it with clients?

Yes — internally or in client engagements. You can't resell the template itself as a template.

Need it tailored?

If you want the report designed around your committee structure, get in touch.

Write the report the minutes get written from

Deltas, evidence, and asks with sizes and dates — instead of a register read-aloud.
